If you’re were walking too briskly down the street, you just might miss this hidden Downtown Los Angeles gem. Good Barbers is an intimate barbershop tightly nestled on the corner of 6th and Spring Street in Downtown LA. Canvas paintings from local artisans adorn the walls of this pint sized shop.
Shop owner and Los Angeles native, Roman Kea, dreamed of being a football player. But when that didn’t work out,, he decided to fully embrace the trade he already loved. “I was living in Reno, NV and decided it was time for me to head back to Los Angeles. I landed in DTLA. The area grew on me. I love the vibe, and the hustle and bustle.”
The intimate nature of the shop allows it’s four barbers to really get to know their clients. “People know each other here. We know what’s going on in our client’s lives. We might go hang out. Our clients tend to be younger and hip. And because of our area, we have a few older businessmen who drop in for a cut.”
And the barbers on staff are as hip and eclectic as the shop itself. One barber moonlights as a DJ, while another creates and sells handcrafted jewelry. The sole woman barber on the squad, Kea, is also a certified cosmetologist. “Barbering is hustling,” she says.
