Mornings are pretty much that, M-O-R-N-I-N-G-S, a long drawn out space between when we open our eyes and before we get to work. Whether you happen to work from home, or have a lengthy commute, there’s a good chance that sooner or later you’ll have a meeting that will require you to rise early and look sharp.
For those crazed and rushed mornings where you need to focus on your work, here’s how to look your best in 10 minutes or less.
1. Organize your life
Ok, we said your life, but for the sake of time, we’ll focus on the bathroom. This is the ultimate breeding ground for confusion. For one, the less grooming products you own the better (more on that later), but even if you do limit your amount of product(s), lack of organization will cost you valuable grooming time in rushed situations. So instead of using the product and then throwing it wherever, force yourself to place the product back in its proper place – every time.
2. Shower in the evening
Since it’s not dreadfully hot out yet, there’s a good chance your body isn’t sweating as much as it will be in the warmer months. Even if you do sweat more than most (right now), applying a few deodorant swipes at night will keep you so fresh and so clean ’til morning. Trust us, taking care of this activity at night will save at least 10 minutes the following morning so you can focus on what people tend to notice first anyway – your face.
3. Shave the night before
You know what’s worse than not shaving for a new client meeting? Shaving in a rush for a new client meeting, which can lead to cuts and unnecessary irritation. Our suggestion, take your time and shave at night when it’s quiet and peaceful. Finish by applying a cooling balm to reduce the chance of irritation. Your face will thank you in the morning.
4. No more than 5 grooming products in the morning
To be frank, there’s no way you should be using more than 5 grooming products regardless if you’re rushing or not. However, in rush situations especially, try to focus on the essentials: cleanser, toner, facial moisturizer, deodorant, and body lotion. If you happen to sneak in some eye cream, we’re not mad at you. But seriously after that, you should stop. Less is more!
5. Keep the nail clippers, Q-tips, floss and toothbrush in plain sight
A man with well-groomed nails, clean ears, and sparkly whites – is and will always be a favorite amongst everyone they encounter. So focus on nailing the basics each and every day, so no matter how much time you have, you always look good.
